About the Department
DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PROTECTION
Department of Plant Protection at College of Horticulture, Bermiok, Sikkim catering the specific need of plant health management of horticultural crops including fruits, vegetables, flowers, medicinal and spices crops ravaged by pests and diseases. The department has been created as per DPR of the college to fulfill the needs of course curricula designed in 02 major disciplines of Entomology and Plant Pathology.

Department Overview
The department is well equipped to address the stiff challenges caused by pathogens / pests in most humid region of India in comparatively more vulnerable crops like vegetables, flowers and fruits. Apart from these, department is paying good attention on the bee keeping and mushroom production.
Currently the Department is headed by Prof. S. Bandhyopadhyay. In the Department, Dr. Y. Rupert Anand rendering his service as Assistant Professor in the discipline of Plant Pathology, while Dr. Soniya Devi is working as Assistant Professor in Entomology.
